OUTGOING MOBILITY
WHAT IS STUDENT MOBILITY?
Mobility implies opportunities for students to spend a certain period of their studies at one of the partner universities abroad, get to know the culture of the country they stay in, gain new knowledge and skills, etc.
WHY INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY?
Going to an international student exchange program for the duration of 1 to 2 semesters is a unique opportunity to gain international experience during studies, as well as insights into the way of studying at prestigious universities worldwide, and improve the knowledge of English language. Apart from being an additional significant point in the student’s biography, going to mobility programs is also an opportunity to connect with peers from abroad, to get to know new cultures and acquire the experience of living in new environments, most often with all expenses covered by an appropriate grant or scholarship. During the stay abroad, the student acquires a number of ECTS points at the foreign institution, which upon return can be recognized at the Faculty of Economics, which means that taking part in a mobility program does not significantly affect the duration of studies.
WHAT MOBILITY PROGRAMS ARE THERE?
Most of the mobility takes place within the Erasmus + and CEEPUS programs. Other types of mobility are mobility based on cooperation agreements and the so-called “freemover” mobility (mobility outside the cooperation agreement and agreed quota).
WHAT UNIVERSITY CAN I GO TO?
Faculty of Economics in Belgrade offers opportunities for a wide range of quality world universities to its students, through Erasmus +, CEEPUS program, Magellan Exchange network, CESEENET network, as well as a great number of bilateral agreements. You can view the list of partner institutions that you can go to under international mobility programs HERE.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Exchange programs are available to all regular students from the Faculty of Economics at all levels of study.
HOW CAN I APPLY FOR AN INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY PROGRAM?
Announcements with available mobility spots are published on the website and Facebook page of the Faculty (in the spring for the first semester and in the fall for the second semester).
In the first step, the student chooses a university that he/she wishes to apply for within the framework of the international mobility program (Host University).
After that, the student makes a preliminary selection of subjects (from the list of the foreign university courses), which he/she would like to attend. To make the recognition process easier, students are advised to choose those subjects which are comparable in content with the subjects that they are to attend in the remaining part of their studies at the Faculty of Economics (Home University). In selecting subjects, the student should consult with the International Office, as well as with the subject teachers, in order to select the subjects with a high probability of recognition at the Faculty of Economics after mobility.
Then, the student submits the official descriptions of the selected subjects to the Commission for Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Certificates, by e-mail to international.office@ekof.bg.ac.rs
After the approval of the subjects list, the Learning Agreement is defined, in communication with the International Office.
If the student goes to mobility under the Erasmus + program, after the preparation of the Learning Agreement, the request is submitted via the MobiOn platform: https://mobion.bg.ac.rs//
If the student goes to mobility within the CEEPUS program, after completing the Learning Agreement, the application is submitted through the CEEPUS portal: https://www.ceepus.info/defaultcms.aspx
In other cases, the request is submitted to the International Office after the preparation of the Learning Agreement.
Student mobility at the Faculty of Economics is realized according to the INSTRUCTION ON THE PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS’ MOBILITY and in accordance with the RULES ON MOBILITY AND TRANSFER OF ECTS POINTS.
The procedure for preparing documents and applying is relatively simple and does not take more than a few days.

RECOGNITION OF EXAMS PASSED ABROAD
Exams passed on mobility are generally recognized (with an appropriate number of ECTS points) at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, if their content mainly corresponds with the content of the corresponding subjects at the Faculty of Economics. In order to ensure the recognition of exams, students are advised to coordinate with the International Office, as well as with the subject teachers, when selecting the subjects they will attend abroad and defining the Learning agreement.
In the Learning agreement, the student may also include subjects that cannot recognized within their curriculum, and those ECTS points will be recorded in the diploma supplement and added to the basic total of 180 or 240 ECTS.
WHAT IS A LETTER OF MOTIVATION?
Letter of motivation includes your personal address to those who are in charge of selecting the candidates. It aims to present you in the best possible light and bring you closer to the people who make the selection. The motivation letter should describe personal (professional) motives for selecting a specific university for mobility, expectations, etc. In the motivation letter, the candidate gives the readers a more detailed description of his/her qualities. The following qualities are most appreciated in any competition:
- Good knowledge of the given field for which the candidate is applying,
- Motivation, enthusiasm and serious interest,
- Creativity and originality,
- Ability to solve problems and ability to adapt to new situations,
- Skill of writing and expressing,
- Maturity, emotional stability and the ability to successfully overcome stress and challenges,
- Skills in group work and leadership,
- Skill of adaptation and independence,
- Initiative,
- Responsibility,
- Commitment to academic and business goals and healthy desire for success.
The above characteristics are what is preferred and the candidate needs to find a way to present them, but not in an overstated or arrogant manner.
HOW TO WRITE A CV?
You can use different forms and templates for writing a CV. The Europass model is the most common in European programs. You can find the writing templates as well as the instructions on the Europass portal:
http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/documents/curriculum-vitae/templates-instructions
WHERE CAN I GET A CERTIFICATE OF ENROLLMENT, TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS ABOUT MY STUDIES?
These documents are issued by the Student Office of the Faculty of Economics. The application process requires that documents be translated into English by a sworn-in-court translator.
WHERE CAN I FIND A LEARNING AGREEMENT TEMPLATE?
HOW IS THE LEARNING AGREEMENT MADE AND WHO APPROVES IT?
Signing of the Learning agreement is done before the student leaves for exchange, with the possibility of adopting changes during the first month of the semester at the host institution. The learning agreement is signed by three parties: the student, the home university and the host institution. Before signing the learning agreement, it is necessary to determine the degree of compatibility of study programs and selected courses at the host institution with the study program of the home university. Compatibility assessment is based on the curriculum of the host institution and the syllabus of selected subjects, and involves the opinion of the Commission for Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Certificates and the decision of the ECTS Coordinator.
The student is obliged, at least ten days prior to the application for mobility, to send the descriptions (syllabuses) of the subjects that he/she chose to take at the host institution to the International Office, via e-mail to international.office@ekof.bg.ac.rs in electronic form, in English or in Serbian, published by the host institution, in order to assess the possibility of recognizing exams and define the learning agreement.
Credit recognition and transfer is realized in accordance with the UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE RULES.
Recognition of a mandatory subject requires a match of min. 70%, whereas an elective subject can be recognized for any subject in the field of study of the student and does not have to correspond with the group of electives in the student’s home studies.
The minimum number of credits to be gained on mobility for outgoing students is 21 ECTS.
The number of ECTS points gained on mobility needs to be equal to, or greater than, the number of credits of the recognized subjects in the student’s home studies, i.e. the student has to fulfil the condition for acquiring min. 240 ECTS / 180 ECTS in order to graduate from the home studies.
DO ALL MOBILITY PROGRAMS PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS?
Each exchange of students between partner universities implies waived tuition and cost of exams. In some exchange programs (ERASMUS +, CEEPUS, etc.) there are funds allocated to the student for accommodation, food, insurance and travel expenses. The amount of these funds (scholarships) depends on the country in which mobility takes place, as well as the specific exchange program in which the student participates.
If mobility is carried out at an institution with which there is no cooperation agreement, the student often pays the tuition and exam fees to that institution besides the cost of stay and other expenses.
CAN I TO TAKE PART IN INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY PROGRAMS MORE THAN ONE TIME?
Yes, if you have spent one semester or less on mobility at a single level of study, you have the right to apply for another semester of mobility at that level. Please note that in the selection process, priority is given to the students who have not previously been on mobility and meet all the requirements of the competition.

STUDENTS’ EXPERIENCES
Name: Marija Vulović
Exchange program: CEEPUS
Host institution: WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business)
My stay in Vienna was a wonderful experience! In addition to everything I learned at my university, I met many great people and made friendships for life with people around the world! It’s not common for students from Serbia to go abroad for exchange, so this was a special opportunity to improve my English, but also to get in touch with different nations, people of different religions and opinions.
I would wish this type of experience to everyone. It’s something I have not even dreamed of and I would like to be able to stay longer in Vienna, but I assume that all good things come to an end and that it’s time for some other people to visit and enjoy this beautiful, hospitable city!
Name: Igor Ivašković
Exchange program: CEEPUS
Host institution: Univerzitet u Mariboru, Faculty of Economics and Business, Slovenia
During the summer semester 2013, I had the opportunity to go to exchange in Maribor, Slovenia. There is not enough space to describe the whole custom, but I will draw out some of the strongest impressions. The unique natural environment (the Pohorje Mountains and the river Drava), the vicinity of all the important sites, the diversity of nations on the exchange, student food stamps, numerous student activities, the possibility of cheap travel … are sufficient reasons to take advantage of this opportunity.
